Image Gallery: New York Woods, Waterfalls and Waterways

As a result of the last ice age, the Finger Lakes area of Central New York possesses numerous gorges and waterfalls, which are especially concentrated around Ithaca and Watkins Glen. They are beautiful at all times of the year. In the spring, the lime green leaves of the budding trees provide compelling accents to the rushing water, while in autumn the red, orange and yellow leaves produce striking contrasts to the gentler flow. Intricate ice patterns in the streams and waterfalls make winter one of my favorite times to photograph these waterways. Devoid of color, I place emphasis on interesting details and patterns. There is enough variety here to keep me coming back for a lifetime.
